Okay, so one of the components of my brand is "dice." I've not written too much about Dungeons & Dragons, but the game is beyond fun when you have the right people, and I started a new campaign with some of my closest friends.
It takes place on a continent called Ocrea, divided by warring city-states, a power struggle between the ever-growing governments and the word of the people, and tension between humans, elves, dwarves, and other peoples that find themselves at the mercy of a growing threat in the north.
What's fun about worldbuilding for D&D is that you can take as much as you want from pop-culture. I'm not writing books in this universe, so it can resemble the media my friends and I like quite a bit, crafting a rich experience when paired with the diverse mechanics of the game and the imagination of the players.
The primary influences for this world are A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, Fullmetal Alchemist, Lord of the Rings, Magic: The Gathering, The Dark Tower, Skyrim, Final Fantasy XV, Minecraft, Terraria, Norse mythology, Slavic mythology, Celtic mythology, Greek mythology, and to a lesser extent, Egyptian mythology. In the map I have references to Avatar: The Last Airbender, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, Pokémon, and the general Dungeons & Dragons settings offered to us in official modules.
My players will be hopping dimensions to get to the "realm of beginnings," which is home to an encompassing energy known as "the world key." This is also the name of the campaign -- "The World Key." The energy is supposedly where life began, and is the link between all known worlds and realities. But someone is trying to use it in a way it's not meant to be... can my players stop them before it's too late?
I honestly don't know yet!
